The parts of a print shop, as software
An agent proposes the design; a layout engine sets every page, checks it and exports it. Your words stay exactly as you wrote them.
An art director that works in intent, not pixels
The designer proposes typed layout intent: a format, a preset, covers, openers and tokens. The engine does the typesetting, so every design is reproducible and every change is a revision.
Four formats
Reports, magazines, brochures and picture books, each with its own covers, openers and page furniture.
Presets and tokens
Editorial classic, civic modern, quiet luxury, brutalist and more, with palette, type and scale you can override.
Words used as written
Cover lines, pull quotes and display words must be exact phrases from your document. Nothing is paraphrased.
Iterations
Give written feedback on a design and get a new revision; compare shows the pages that changed.
Locks
Approve a page and lock it. A change that would move a locked page is rejected and kept in the history.
Revisions
Every change is a revision with who made it, in your team too. Revert to any of them.

Measured, so nothing ships broken
Hard checks block an export: overflow, missing words, font fallbacks, page geometry, mark clearance, bleed and image resolution. Soft checks are advice, each with the option that may fix it.
Every word placed
The text on the pages is compared with your document, in order, as searchable text.
Bundled fonts only
Static OFL fonts, embedded, never Type 3, with Noto behind them for symbols, maths and other alphabets.
Content is sacred
If something can’t fit, it is reported as a conflict, never shortened, shrunk or dropped to make room.
Soft checks with fixes
Near-empty pages, stranded headings, loose lines, low contrast, figure distance, small type.
It looks at the pages
The designer reads page images, the exact text on each page and the issues found, before it says it’s done.
Dry runs
A change can be rendered and diffed before it is kept.
Files a printer will accept
Say the job is for a printer. The designer asks for the printing condition, bleed and marks, then renders, converts and checks, and gives you a preflight report to send along.
Bleed and marks
Bleed per edge, with inside and outside for spreads. Crop, bleed and registration marks, colour bars and a page line, each on its own switch.
CMYK PDF/X-4
FOGRA39, FOGRA51, FOGRA52, GRACoL 2013 or SWOP 2013 as the output intent. Text stays text and transparency stays live.
Black done right
Small black text in 100% black ink, overprinting. Large dark areas in the condition’s rich black.
Preflight report
PRINT READY or NOT READY, with every check: boxes, output intent, ink coverage, image resolution, small type.
Honest about limits
The press checks are a self-check, not a certified PDF/X validation. The printer’s preflight has the final word.
Spreads or pages
Single pages for the printer to impose, or reader spreads for proofing.
Pictures with a paper trail
Your own figures come first. Covers and openers can use a photo library, engine-drawn art, or images generated on the subject when you say yes.
Your figures
Placed with their captions, and checked for resolution at the size they print.
Engine-drawn art
Abstract backgrounds and textures, drawn by the engine at no cost.
Generated images
Only after you agree. Decorative only, never your figures; people in them are fictional.
Workspaces for you and your team
Everyone gets a personal workspace. Team workspaces hold shared projects and credits, for up to 3 people on the Free plan.
Roles
Owners, admins, editors and viewers. Viewers look; editors design and export; admins manage people.
Invitations
By email, with a role, valid for 14 days. The invited address must be verified to accept.
Shared credits
One monthly allowance per workspace, with a daily cap per person and a usage page.
The web, the terminal and Claude Code
One account everywhere. Each acts in the workspace you choose and draws on its credits.
The web app
Upload a Markdown file and its images, look at the pages, give feedback, lock pages and export.
The terminal designer
One npx command in any folder. It signs you in with your account in the browser and saves results next to your files.
Claude Code
Add the MCP server once and sign in. Every tool the designer uses is there for your agent.
